Resumo:
Ocupational health risks for health care workers (HCW) are manifold. They span a wide range from needlesticks physical overload leading to back strain to the emotional consequences of working in a demanding environment. There are also risks from transmission of infectious organisms such as tuberculosis bacteria and from exposure to toxic agents like cytostatic drugs, or allergens like acrylates. Many HCW experience mental stress due to multiple and sometimes conflicting demands from patients and colleagues. Economical constraints, ethical "rules" and concerns about making mistakes create added pressures.
